My research into the Patricks is just beginning. For years, I felt the name was too common for successful research. Thanks to the Internet and the LDS Church, that is no longer true. We know that Hugh Patrick of Maryland is the first identifiable of the line. Not known is whether he is the first emigrant or was born in Maryland. He married a Susannah and had a son John in 1700. John married a Mary (or Margaret) and had son JEREMIAH PATRICK born about 1738. About 1762 he married SALLIE BLAIR and had children. He moved to Giles County, VA in about 1790, moved to Russell County, VA in 1819, moved to Floyd County, KY (now Magoffin) in _____ , died on the Middle Fork of Licking River, Floyd Co KY in 1822. He made these moves because of his son WILLIAM PATRICK born ca. 1762; moved to Russell Co., VA from Giles Co., VA in 1790 after he married, sold his land in Russell Co VA on 3 July 1811 to move to KY. He married MOLLY RAINS. |
