The Beesons

Edward Beeson and his wife, Rachel Pennington, came into the colonies by way of a land grant from William Penn, a Quaker. It is not known if they were Quakers. However, it is known that they lived in Chester Co., PA. Edward is understood to have been the son of Thomas Beeson and Ann Pecke of Lancaster Co., England. They settled in West Nottingham, Chester Co., PA where their first child Edward was born about 1681. Children Issac, Richard, Anne and William followed within a decade. Before Edward's death, it is said, Issac Beeson had already removed to Orange County, North Carolina. But this would have been around 1712, a little early for the great Quaker migrations south.

Issac was joined by Richard and his spouse, Charity Grubb, after Edward's death. Richard and Charity Beeson helped form Hopewell Meeting in Virginia and were among the earliest members of New Garden Meeting in Guilford Co., NC. They both remained in Guilford Co. until their deaths.
