| Why begin with the 13th generation? The earliest identified emigrants
to America first appear in this generation. It also gives us a chance to
lay down the foundations of the various lines; where they originated, what
their economic-social status was, and hopefully why they made the decision
to undertake the dangerous crossing to a new and wild world. Beginning here
will also enable us to keep each major branch of the family grouped. Many
ancestors lived in the same area and intermarried. What can be spoken of
one can apply to several others at the same time. This is not to say that our research has terminated at the 13th generation. Several lines extend far beyond this arbitrary beginning point. Where possible, I will give a little of those lines history as well. |
